Actually peacock feathers are an important symbol in Indian mythology.In India peacocks are plentiful,an adored.Their feathers are sign of good luck.
They are not bad luck, it's trying to get them that is bad luck...the peacock will attack you...and the owners started the rumor of bad luck so goof's won't be stealing their feathers...
i don't think that any object is "bad luck"
