cholesterol is something your body makes. My mom has high cholesterol and she eats so good and she never ever drinks or smokes. The doctors say its just how her body works. She takes medication for it Im really excited for my future, my dad has high blood pressure and my mom has high cholesterol

Of course it can. Cholesterol targets anyone, young, old, healthy, diseased - doesn't matter. Genetics plays a large role in this disorder, so if someone's parents had high cholesterol, chances are pretty good they will, too, and unfortunately this part of the disease is not correctable with diet and exercise, but requires meds. I know because that is the kind of high cholesterol I have. I exercise, eat sensibly, am not overweight, and neither smoke cigarettes, not drink alcohol <rare>.

Part of your cholesterol level is genetic. So the fit person could be born with a high level. No matter what your level, eating right and exercise can lower your cholesterol. Smoking is irrelevant.

It can be. There is a genetic component. When I was 26, I worked out a lot, was very trim, was a vegetarian and I had high cholesterol. My cholesterol ratio was good, and my triglycerides were low but the overall number was still high. My very overweight uncle (married to my biological aunt), who did not work out or watch what he ate at all had almost dangerously low cholesterol.

I believe part of it is genetic predisposition.
