You crazy guys won't let me comment, so I'll refer to the answer I found most helpful (answer #5 by Bronau), or at least that did help in a simple way: right click on the link that takes you to stupid loginnet.passport from @#$$#%#$$ Microsoft and use the dropdown to tease out the email address from someting like

    "mailto:%20georgyporgy@att.net"

all the other answers that looked so good did squat for me, whether because technically incorrect or because my intelligence that day was verging down to moron, I don't know.

Go to Tools, Internet Options, Privacy, Advanced, Always Allow Session Cookies, Ok, Ok.
Log out of hotmail and all passport sites.
Log back into these sites and all should be fine.

I don't use this service at all, since my e-mail system is not supported.
Close the pop-up windows, then right click on the link that led you to passport. The short list that appears will offer 'copy e-mail address'; click this, then paste the address into your e-mail program.

Pay not attention to the advertisment on this page that offters to fix this problem by downloading a free program to scan your registry. It is a waste of time and it is certainly not free.

You need to sign up first. This is free. Log in to http://loginnet.passport.com. Then follow the directions to use your e-mail from Yahoo on Microsoft Passport. When you enter your yahoo e-mail just make sure it's exactly the same: capitals, lowercase, etc. Your password can vary. Then you'll be able to use this. good luck!
