  • I assume you're male -- most girls would be just fine with 5' 5". If you're 17 years old, you might grow a couple more inches. Its unlikely that you'll shoot up a whole lot. Much more important than that is your attitude about it, though: there is absolutely nothing wrong with being 5' 5". Plenty of men that height live normal, healthy, happy lives -- they get married, they have jobs and friends, they even play basketball professionally! (e.g. Mugsy Bogues is an example). Whatever your feelings about your height, you really need to focus your attention on accepting the things you can't change, and being responsible for the things you can change. Having a negative attitude about yourself because of your height is a much greater shortcoming than the actual vertical measurement.
  • Your height is perfect.
  • Stableboy has a great answer. I just want to add that my mother was 5'2" and my father was 5'9". Myself and my 2 brothers are all 6'1" and our sister is 5'10", so you never know where you'll end up! Edit: Fair question Glenn. At 17 I was 5'11".

  • Your height is not that bad. 6 inches seems too much though. Maybe you should put a more realistic goal ;) ?
  • It skips generations sometimes. My parents are both 5-4 and 5-6 and I am 6-2. My great grandfather was very tall, about 6-6, plus, we had a very tall milkman as I recall ...
