  • Fritz Pollard and Bobby Marshall in 1920, and then in 1921, Pollard became the first black coach in what is now the NFL.
  • who was bobby marshall
  • William (Pudge) Heffelfinger http://www.profootballhof.com/hof/release.aspx?release_id=1381
  • While clearly Fritz Pollard and Bobby Marshall were not the first-two-Black Players of Professional FB, from what I understand, they were the first-two-Black players that stood-up as Black-people who played Professional FB. I am trying to say that William (Pudge) Heffelfinger was a Uncle Tom, I do not blame him, when you are only one of a handfull of people in a larger, violent* society, where a huge majority is racist, and your race makes you the target of huge majority of them. *- remember they would not even recognize what we call Professional FB today and Former President Theodore Roosevelt had to take action to make Professional FB safe <aroun 1905>) Bobby Marshall from my memory was a HOF RB, of that time. Yes, HOF Fritz Pollard was the first-Black head coach, when his franchise's head coach left, and then gave it back to the next head coach. He played and coach at the same time, happened a lot back then. Pro Franchises (only Pro because they paid the players that tiny bite of money) folded and recreated themselves all the time and most times under new ownership, new cities, new names and additional players.
