  • send less of them and revert to traditional forms of communication for at least part of the day.
  • I am sure it is legal since so many of the providers are doing it. You can change to a plan/provider that has unlimited text messaging.
  • There's always my solution: send a mass text message telling everyone you're cancelling your text plan and if they send you another text message you'll pay for your next bill in pounds of their flesh. Then cancel your text plan. The companies are providing a service. They can charge for whatever the heck they want. YOU, the customer, DID indeed sign up for it.
  • Canadian news just did a story on that subject and there are two major companies that will soon start charging for incoming text messages, so apparently it is legal for them to do so. I am totally against this ... I feel they should double the cost of sending them but because a cell phone owner has absolutely no control over who sends them text messages, when, or how many, they should NOT charge for receiving them.
