I spent too many years of my life being poor. I'll pick up anything!

Yep, some people sniff at pennies, but they add up after a while. Mom and I used to have a competition every year and save all the money we "found". At the end of one year between ourselves we managed to collect $84 in loose change.

I found a Mercury dime dated 1940 in a store parking lot. Pays to look where you're going.

For paper money, a single dollar is enough to get my attention, unless it's too abused to be used. For coins, I'd pick up a nickel or higher. Although, I did once see a prank show where they tossed handfuls of pennies on the sidewalk and road to see what people did. All the adults walked right past, but a kid stopped and picked up as many as he could find. He and his friend then stepped into a convenience store and walked out with treats. Guess any money is good money!

I'll pick up any denomination of paper money, coins not so much. If it was really shiny and caught my attention I guess I'd snag it.

If I spot a penny, I'll point it out to whichever one of my kids is closest to me at that moment. They pick it up and act like they won the lottery!

    If it's paper, it's mine.

    lol

Actually, I think it's fun to pick up 'found' money, especially if you're running low yourself. But I always feel bad for whoever lost it and if it is a sizable amount, I'd at least look around to see if it could be returned.

On my honeymoon my husband found me a diamond tennis bracelet laying in the sand near a waterfall. There was no one directly around, but thousands of tourists down at a lower level of the waterfall. It would have been nearly impossible to track down the true owner, so we kept it as a souvenir. Definitely the best thing either of us has ever found!

I will pick up any money from the floor, regardless of the value, it is still money. It is incredible to me how much of it there is out there, I can average anywhere between three cents and seventy five in a day, depending on which district I am in DC, ironically the poorer neighborhoods reap the biggest windfalls (go figure). The best places are the metro, bus stops, grocery stores and parking meters- people literally empty their pockets out at them!
I think that people don’t pick up coins out of pride, like people will think you are cheap or poor or something, I earn over a hundred grand a year and it still won’t stop me, I simply don’t care what people think. I have a friend in a household of six and they made nearly three grand in two years (kids eyes are closer to the ground I guess!), that’s one nice vacation for nothing!
I started collecting about a year ago and I have roughly ninety bucks; remember this is FREE money; you don’t have to work for it, or think about it, you just have to pick it up!
