• Since *someone* is giving me negative points, I may as well add that, fundamentally, women who preach are doing nothing wrong. Then again, I'm a feminist, and know that women should have the same rights men do, but what do I know, right?

  I don't see anything of the such in those verses. Even addressing women. ???? 14-15 Is Paul talking of being forgiven of HIS persecution of the christains before his conversion.

• Earlier, the account at Judges 2:16 says: "Then the LORD raised up judges, who saved them out of the hands of these raiders." The main work of a judge would be to save Israel from their enemies. It appears, that the phrase at Judges 4:4 about Deborah "judging (NIV-leading http://bible.cc/judges/4-4.htm) Israel at that particular time" does not mean that Deborah was usurping the place of a man and that she was fulfilling all the duties (http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=H8199&t=KJV) of a judge in Israel. Unlike Samuel, Gideon or other judges she did not judge all Israel and act as their deliverer or "savior." In fact, at Nehemiah 9:27 the term "saviors" is used rather than "judges."—Compare Judges 3:9, 15.

And I shall certainly draw to you at the torrent valley of Kishon Sisera the chief of Jabin’s army and his war chariots and his crowd, and I shall indeed give him into your hand.’” (Judges 4:6, 7) By saying ‘has not Jehovah given the command?’ Deborah emphatically denied any personal authority over Barak. • “If you will go with me,” said Barak, “I also shall certainly go; but if you will not go with me, I shall not go.” (Judges 4:8) Why was Barak reluctant to accept God-given responsibility? Was he acting in a cowardly way? Did he lack trust in God’s promises? No. Barak did not refuse the assignment, nor did he disobey Jehovah. Rather, his response indicated feelings of inadequacy about carrying out God’s command by himself. The presence of God’s representative would ensure divine guidance and fill him and his men with confidence. Rather than being a sign of weakness, therefore, the condition Barak set was an indication of strong faith.

• Still, Paul mentioned for sure teaching in the congregation, but as for preaching, or talking to others about God, Paul says also in Romans 16:1 of a female minister. Also there is a psalm, pre-dating the Christian congregation, that says the women are a large army.

  The office of Deacon was established to free the Apostles (who functioned as the first pastors) to Pray and to Prepare to Minister the Word. In the original language, the word, Deacon, means servant.
  "Diakoneo" and its derivatives, as their etymology suggests, are used mainly for personal help to others. "Diakonia" is found 34 times in the NT. It means service at the table in Lk. 10:40; Acts 6:1, etc. "Diakanos" is found 29 times in the NT. Its primary meaning is one who serves at tables. So yes Phoebe was a deaconess but the word simply means servant not a minister or preacher of the Word if that is indeed what you were implying.

• The term “bishop” is translated overseer in some translations. It is the word from which we get our word “episcopal” which means, “to look upon, inspect, oversee, look after, care for” and refers to “the care of the church which rested upon the elders.” The term is used interchangeably with “elder” and “shepherd” (i.e. pastor) in Acts 20 and 1st Peter 5. There is no question about the authority of the office: “Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine” (1st Timothy 5:17) The pastor preaches the Word not a deacon. So if Phoebe was a preacher or a minister, that would mean she had a place of authority over the men and Paul said no to that. A deacon, a servant, did the work that the Bishops and Elders could not. Phoebe had a place of honor but was not a preacher.

• Paul was one of the bible writers that probably really hate women. He was either a closet gay or had problems with his mother. As a religious authority he leave much to be desired.

• It doesn't matter,they are still disobeying God.1 Timothy is plain.Know one who is truly called by God to preach turn him down.I don't think God entended for all these churches at every corner to be.All these denomoinations are rediculous.Isn't Gods fault christians can't come to terms on sola scriptura(Gods word alone)Man cannot leave their opinions of what God is thinking out.Let Scripture say what it says.Doesn't matter if we like it or not.
