  • In many cases acne can leave facial scarring. The severity depends on how aggressive the acne was in the first place, as well ashow much it was irritated e.g. scratching it. There are a number of steps you can take. First off, will normal cosmetic blemish concealer not work? Why not go to a department store and ask someone at a makeup counter if they can suggest anything. They may be able to try somethng there and then and if it works you can buy the product in full. Alternaively go to a chemist and see if they can suggest anything. They probably see quite a few similar problems and can suggest over the counter remedies without a prescription. Certainly in the UK, if you have a GP you can go and see if they can prescribe anything. Most medicines are for acne itself, but a few may have additional effects to reduce scarring. This may be impossible however if the scarring has already taken place. At least you've tried. The most expensive solution is laser treatment. This definitley isn't cheap but it is known to be extremely effective. Do a quick google search online to find out more information. Cuurently in the UK I don't know whether it is available on the NHS if it is determined there is significant psychological distress caused by the scarring. Elsewhere I would imagine you have to pay. Again, see your local doctor as they may have more information and can refer you to a skin specialist (dermatologist) if necessary.
