It inspired my best friend's dumbass boyfriend into purchasing an electric drum set that now sits in the corner as a one thousand dollar dust collector.

Absolutly. For one of my friends, it inspired him to play guitar a couple years ago and he has also stopped listening to rap music.

Guitar Hero can have a big effect on your musicial personality.

It's a good start. I know a few kids who wanted to learn playing a real guitar after doing so well in GH.

I doubt it real instruments are harder to learn don't have high scores, and cost a lot (we are in a recession after all).

Have you ever heard someone play GH acousticly?? LOL

I don't think it is a driving force teaching kids to play music.

Yes. I have a friend who teaches guitar and he sees a flood of new students each time a new game comes out.

    Yeah I think so.
I just played the drums on Rock band last week and I really want to start playing drums.

But I haven't really gotten that far.
    I just do air drums.

I think a small percentage are inspired to take up a real instrument. The rest are more likely to master the game, and think that makes them a musician. I know a few people who think they can play real guitar just because they can play a couple songs from GH on expert. I find that laughable. May be a fun game, but being able to play it well is pretty much a useless skill, just for fun.

I just read a story about this on TotalGuitar which is really weird!!! Apparently, loads of people have taken up instruments through being inspired by the games.
