  • I assume by "sleeps with" you mean "has sexual intercourse with". If so, then it is most likely that he will be excommunicated. The Mormon church teaches that sexual intercourse outside of marriage is a sin. In virtually all instances of extra-marital sexual intercourse, the offending members will be excommunicated. That being said, church discipline is left to the discretion of the local leader, and given particular circumstances, it could be possible that the individual may receive a lesser discipline of disfellowshipment.
  • There are many factors in determing that. One is whether or not he has recieved the Aaronic Priesthood, Melchizedek Priesthood, and temple endowments. The more promises he has made with God the more accountability he would have. In many if not all instances if he had recieved his temple endowment he would need to be excommunicated. If he had only recieved the Melchizedek Priesthood it would depend on several things, not the least of which is whether he wants to stop having sex. If he wants to stop and repent then he may only need to be disfellowshiped for a time. If he had only recieved the Aaronic Priesthood then there would be even less consequences. In all cases, it is between the individual, his Bishop or Branch President, and The Lord.
  • My question is why whould you tell ANYONE of an act of such love. the most scraed and private act of two lovers and you ell some "joe Shmoe" besides that, yes he or they can, although i've heard that it has been done (the sleeping part) yet i've not heard of any one actually being excommunicated. it's by much talk, prayer, and decisions and factors but is between the people in question and the bishop. i don't really know the process of being excommunicated in our church, but i believe a counsel must approve it.
  • Actually, the way that i've heard it is that you are put on a type of probation if you will. You go to the leader of the church and confess what you've done and put an effort forth in trying to repent from your sins and do everything that your asked to do (like not take communion) then after a time, you can become a full member again.
  • Well Im living this right now. My fiance is a member and we have had sex. They had many meetings with him one on one, and this week he had to go to a meeting with a group of men who told him he had 3 choices. These choices are formal probation, disfellowship, or excommunication. He wants to do the formal probation which they told him that we would have to postpone our wedding until they said we could marry, repent, and couldnt be alone together! He came home saying he had been thinking about it himself... what a coincidence considering a few days prior he asked his leader to marry us! I'm getting the hint they dont want us to marry.
  • Well, I think you mean "have sex" under the expression of "sleep". Mormons are pretty strict and don't look kindly upon fornication. I waited until I was married to have sex, it wasn't easy but it is possible.
  • YES! They will exx you for just about any sin. They are sin sniffers. That is what they do. Get out now while you still can. But beware. IF you try to quit, they might just exx you befre you can do it. They can't have quitters. It looks bad so they kick you out first.
  • HAHAHAHHAHA! Hardly. I know many mormons who plainly had sex before marriage since they gave birth before marriage and none of them were excommunicated.
  • It depends on his status in the church. I have seen two wealthy men, both High Priests, get away with pedophilia and just get probation. In both instances it the LDS Church also violated the law by not reporting the incidents. I have also seen men get excommunicated for petting. I know that this will infuriate many, that is not my intention, but I have seen happen.
  • No, but his "Pickle" will fall off!!! Sin is Sin. John
  • Not if he keeps quiet about it. Who on earth would go and discuss their sex life with someone else? I feel sorry for the girlfriend.
  • For my buddy Glenda LDS do not "Troll" as you call it, they just play tag. Thanks for the Marks Glenny, I appreciate that you care so much... and thanks for the comments as to why you marked. You could say that it wasn't you. But honestly, zero activity for the last three hours except all of a sudden... Keep practicin your friend Joey's word and you're sure to meet him someday.
  • Definitely....if you block the aisle.
  • The is a set of rules the church follows to determine this and it depends on the individual situation but there is a yes or no answer to each situation if the Chruch Handbook of Instructions is followed however the Church Leadership interpret it in many different ways so it is impossible to give you a direct answer. Someone that should be excommunicated according to Church policy might get off very lightly and another might be very heavily 'disciplined'. All depends on the Pristhood Leader(s) 'reponsible' and what they determine to be the 'best' outcome.
