It depends on the state you live in and the specific visitation and custody arrangements in your child custody papers. MOST states will not let visitation interfer with education. Is is attendance at summer school required or necessary? Does he need to go it to make classes up or to pass on to the next grade or is he registered for "elective" classes, extracurriculars or just to get ahead? That will likely make a difference. If he *needs* to return home, I would let her know that this is tantamount to pulling him out of school during the school year. Unacceptable. Make sure he gets on the plane. If not, contact your attorney or the respective court. You might try to make it easier on her by offering to send him back for a visit after summer school finishes or give her an extra couple of days on the next visit.
