  • No, several species of snakes give birth to live young. Garter snakes are a common example. These snakes do actually develop in eggs, but the shells soften to the point that only a thin membrane remains at the time of birth, and it is sometimes broked before the baby snake emerges from its mother. A great deal of information on this is located at http://double-d-reptiles.tripod.com/birth.html
  • About 25% of snake species give live birth, including the boas and most pit vipers (like rattlesnakes).
  • I have a Rosy Boa which has live births. It's pretty crazy to see as they tend to have quite a few offspring at once. I don't know what other snakes don't lay eggs, but it sounds like there are others too.
  • yo no se!
  • yes snakes do lay egg all of them
  • No. Anacondas & rattlesnakes give birth to live young. I know that there are more, but I can't think of them off hand.
  • Not all, just recently have i been taught that some snakes don't lay eggs. If they don't the mother with her childrens inside of her can't eat for almost a year! this is because in order for the mother to eat she has to catch her food, how is she gonna do that if she can't wrap around her food? the answer she can't. When the babies are born, some may not have enough food to develop propertly so when this happens the mother gets a free lunch, kinda sad right. Well the others who are well develop quickly escapes before mommy eats them.
