i've heard good things from many people on the verizon and cingular sides of the house. i had sprint for the past 2 years and hated it. just recently i switched to cingular since most of my family was on it and i've been happy with it so far. edition! i think both verizon and cingular have pretty competitive rates. i'd most likey go to whichever network the majority of the poeple you keep in contact with are on. this way, when you call them your charges are minimal and sometimes free if they're on the same network. and free is the best price ever.

Someone has reworded my question. wonder who?
-
Yes, in their billing if you carry any balance over on your bill their computer somehow turns credits into balance owed, however this only happens when a balance is carried. They recommend that the bill be paid in full each month

Been with Verizon for 6 years. No problems.

I've had Verizon for many years and have had no problems. I live in Florida and after the hurricanes of 2004 and 5, verizon was one of a few that still had a signal. Additionally, when on a roadtrip to the mountains in North Carolina, I was the only one with a signal comparred to my friends (who used Cingular and T Mobile).

Only been with Verizon for 2 years, heavily populated area, but lousy service here in the hills, right smack dab in the middle between two repeaters, and it keeps changing service areas... I have had trouble with customer service, they saw I had insurance and made me pay $50 for a manufactor defective phone. But same time I also had more than allowed 2 insurance claims, and they gave me the same courtesy replacement... Billing is a nightmare.. its probably right.. I just can't figure it out. 2 phones, internet, texting, peak hour calls... we both have different plans for one account.

I have been with Verizon for 5 years and it is coming to an end. This is the latest and last instance of problems with Verizon. I bought a Mint Chocolate for my daughter. The first phone was totally defective. You couldn't even make a phone call from it. The second phone the charging port broke. BUT in the mean time, the phone had been in humidity at some point in time(didn't know about this when I bought the phones), and a little dot on the phone turned pink. I understand that Verizon has had many issues reported with these phones, but does not share that information with it's customers. Other items have been them putting "freebies" on the phones that I have explicitly asked them not to.

I think that no matter what cellular company you have, you're going to have problems. Problems with service, customer care, billing, ect. If you look at the big picture, Verizon is usually one or two in all of those categories. Some other carriers like T Mobile excell in customer care, but are really awful with network. Others seem really good with network, but awful with customer care (Cingualr). It seems that Verizon has the best average of everything.

Yes, They cut parent's internet by accident, and my parent's requested it back. They said they were going to send a new modem with the filters on monday, and it never came. Neither, on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. My mom waited all week. Then verizon called they were going to send it by USP. Then they changed their mind and said instead they were going to mail it by some unknown delivery company. It never came, and they charged us the whole thing, when they said their modem was going to be totally free due to the perfect credit my parents got. We switched to RCN and we haven't had any problems, yet..

ATT/Cingulat and Verizon have the same prices on their rate plans.

I had Verizon and they screwed me over in my billing. They thought that they could get past me on it, but I was working for a local cell carrier at the time and had worked for the old Powertel(now T-Mobile) and I know how to read and disect a bill. So I left them and went to Cingular, and Sprint (yeah, I have both. Sprint roams on Verizon and their high speed internet covers more major cities than Verizon (212 to 181)). They have both done well for me.

yeah...in the past month i've been having horrible service problems...it'd say i'd have 4 bars and the second i would call someone it'd go down and they'd start cutting out..then it's say "signal lost" i've wanted to throw the phone out of my car so many times...i don't understand why now it's messing up..it was doing amazing before...so i dunno...anyone know what's up?

John, try this. enter *228 - press send, listen and select option 2. wait for the phone to update, a voice will tell you when it is complete. It will go off and come back on.

Prior to Jan. '06 I had no problems for 5 years. Now almost every month theres a problem. Always get excuses or the runaround. I'm glad my contracts up. I'll be switching asap. Few dropped calls is the only good thing I can say about Verizon. Everything else sucks.

I purchased a cell phone for my teenage daughter at Verizon for her birthday at the beginning of February - without going into details of why I returned it, I returned the phone to Verizon store near my home in NY in the middle of February in brand new condition and was told that the money will be deposited into my bank account possibly in a few hours but at the latest, a few days. A few days later, I called the store to follow up and after directing me to many different departments and being put on hold for close to an hour, I was told that a check was issued and sent out to my address. I was a little confused as to why they didn't tell me this initially but since they couldn't give me any straight answers, I patiently waited for the check. I called back a couple of days later to again, follow up and after being on hold again for a long time and calling back 3 times, I was able to speak to someone who seem to know what she was talking about. She said to me that for whatever reason, when I returned the cell phone, the transaction was not processed and there was no record of return (but I have the receipt!!!!). Anyway, she "promised" that the refund (full amount) will be in my bank account since I payed with my debit card and that the money will be in very shortly and that she is processing it - as we speak! End of February, I sent my BF into the store, in person, to see what the heck was going on and he was told that a check was issued a few days ago. Beginning of March, we went into the store again and was told that a check was issued and they looked at us like there was something wrong with us. What is going on???? Not once did they apologize for the confusion and the inconvenience that they have caused us. We have yet to see the refund and to explain this to a 14 year old who is waiting for her reimbursement to purchase her birthday gift is difficult. I will never recommend Verizon to anyone.

Verizon is not honest. On July 3, Verizon cold-called me saying I could get a free phone upgrade. I said I wanted the same phone. She said that she could upgrade me from the XV6700 to the XV6800. Great. I would have to pay $70 and mail in a rebate form and get the $70 back. I said OK, and confirmed my understanding. She gave an order number so I know it was entered. I called back to check on 7/5, was told computer sleeping for weekend, no information. They would find order and call me on Monday. I called late Monday 7/7 as they had not contacted me. Still nothing definite, but they are looking. I called 7/9 and spoke to a lady who tried harder, she found that record was not processed. She said order taker would call me to explain situation. 7/11 I called in frustration. I was told that they cannot honor the phone offer with me, as it was wrong. Inspite of what every person that I spoke with said, promising to look into this and call me back, no one did. I had a confirmed order with order number, they should have honored it. In most quality businesses that would happen. I have been with Verizon a long, long time and my monthly bill is always in the $220-$250 range. And my account is a very profitable one for them. They should have made some kind of goodwill concession to me, but nothing was offered other than too bad. I told them to note in my account that I would not be renewing my contract when it is up. Very poor customer relations, but the kids on the phone don't care, they think no skin off their backs. What they don't know is that bad consumer handling will eventually result in business decline as customers choose other alternatives. And then they are laid off, and will complain about the system.

THEY SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. I CALLED BACK AND GOT CUT OFF WHILE ON PHONE WITH THEM , NOW THEY ACKNOWLEDGE THERE IS A PROBLEM, AND SAY THEY ARE WORKING ON IT. I PAY AROUND 140 PER MONTH I TOLD THEM WHY SHOULD I PAY YOU THE SAME MONEY FOR LESS SERVICE . THEY GAVE ME ONE MONTH FREE SO FAR .. IF THIS CONTINUES THEY WILL HAVE TO DO MORE OR I WILL GO TO ATT . MY NEIGHBORS ARE EXPERIENCING SAME PROBLEMS.

I am among the thousands of unhappy Verizon Wireless customers. Recieved a Blackberry Storm by mail. Activated by an in store representative, only to later find out that I was being billed for a Data Plan subscription that I was not informed of beforehand, and that I did not accept. Attempted to return the phone numerous times, and have dealt with Customer Care a half a dozen times. Its been 8 months. Finally I discovered how to reach the Executive Relations team at Verizon Wireless. They are the only ones who can help resolve your problem, short of having an attorney contact them. BTW, I subscribe to Pre-Paid Legal for $35 a month, and their attorneys at no additional charge, will contact Verizon Wireless. Find me on twitter.com/verizoncustomer . Share your experiences online and then email me at verizon.sucks@yahoo.com . I will forward you important contact information to reach the real decision makers at Verizon Wireless, the Executive Relations team.

I have had a family plan with Verizon for about 10 years with no problems. Abount 1.5 months ago I was due for a new phone and new contract. I chose a Samsung Smooth. Had problems with it from day one with garbled voice and poor design. granted it was a 39 dollar phone. At 2 weeks I called Verizon and they basically said I was stuck with it. I heard from a friend that they have a 30 day switch policy. Went into the V store and was told it had been 40 days and too bad. Feel I was duped by Verizon employee who did not want to take the time or know the policies.
