I am the father of the bride. Groomsmen are wearing black tuxedos, white shirts and red ties. Bridesmaids are wearing red dresses. Dads are wearing black suits (not tuxes). Is it OK to wear a red shirt? If so, what color ties go with red shirts/black suit

I think it would be fine for you to wear a red shirt. Maybe a black tie with some red in it would work well. Red stripes or checks might look nice.

A darker red tie than your shirt?? Or perhaps just do like they do and go white shirt and red tie but a black suit instead of tux.

1. Sounds good. Go for it. No, I don't know what tie to wear. 2. Consult the bride. The only opinions that matter are hers and yours. All your life you've been the boss but now it's her big day. Let her co-ordinate if she has a 'better' idea. 3. On making the decision, everyone else can get st%$#@&ed. Be bold, be happy, enjoy the day. Have fun.

it's ok. if i were the bride i'd be happy my dad cared so much about my big day. why not go tie shopping with your daugther before the big day. that way not only do you solve your problem but also get to enjoy spending time together before the big day

It's okay to wear a red shirt if you don't mind being the one to get eaten by the alien monster. I'd go with a gray tie, pale gray if it's a dark red shirt, charcoal with a brighter red. But don't wear too bright a red anyway. In the photo of you standing next to the bride, your shirt shouldn't demand attention.

in general I would not wear a red shirt, That's the conservative view (white shirt and tie), But nowdays fashion can be a lot more flamboyant and fexible. in general you do not want to clash with or overwhelm the bride as she is the center of attention, I would tone down. a red tie is perfectly acceptable as is another color. or you could ware a light blue shirt and a tie, occassionally you can wear a black or grey shirt but this tends to make people look like a maffioso. Ask the bride--after all, it is HER day. Don't go so far as to insist on it, either. SHE is the one who is supposed to stand out and get noticed, not you.

Probably, but ask the bride - there are so many shades of red, you'd need to compare it to the ties and dresses. The important thing is that you look good next to her as you walk her down the aisle - and that she looks happy. That's the one photo of all of this that you will treasure for years and years to come so don't mess it up by taking a chance.
