Help answer this question below.

Why has my new goldfish got black patches on and around its eyes and on its back(fin), It is on its own so therefore is not in contact with any other fish. I have had it around 3/4 days.

    All "goldfish" have the potential to have the "calico" trait. If they are introduced to the proper aquarium lighting they normally produce some color changes naturally as they mature and are exposed to aquarium lighting. Your fish may make numerous color changes over its lifetime. Congrats on being a responsible and interested fish owner. I started with 3 goldfish 5 years ago with a zest to learn and now have 3 large aquariums and a huge blessing watching my fish change and grow.
