Have you ever known someone who has been, at some point in their life, "tarred and feathered"?

    Yes I have. Not literally, but certainly metaphorically. I've known people that were gossiped about and lied on (tarred) and then harrassed everyday (feathered) until one day you realize they're no longer around. (ran out of town).

    Well i know where the phrase comes from if that's what you mean to ask for. It comes from the time when the English and the Americans were against each other way back in like the 1700s i think. What happened was that sometimes the Americans for some reason or other covered the English is boiling hot tar, and rolled them in a bunch of feathers. A lot of times, these people died from the burns they got from the tar.
