I doubt that anyone would be able to, first of all, *believe* that they've had an accident that has damaged their memory so severely that they will only be able to remember thirty seconds worth before they forget it.
And even if they manage to somehow wrap their brains around that before they lose their memory again, they still have to decide whether or not it's worth living with that condition? I don't know of anyone of sane mind who can make the decision if they want to live or die in thirty seconds or less.
To top it all off, if they do decide to kill themselves, they'd need to have something (loaded gun, noose, pills to O.D. on, etc) ready and waiting.

    BACK TO THE ORIGINAL QUESTION:
My personal feeling is that living with thirty seconds of memory capacity is better than not living at all. Plus, some people have regained the full function of their memory after their injuries (brain) have healed.

Even if I decided I wanted to die, I'd forget about it in 30 seconds...so I'm not sure I'd be able to sustain a thought process long enough to make any determination. :)

How would I even remember I had a 30 second memory unless someone told me every 30 seconds? It would never work

It would depend on how fast I could load the gun and come up with the balls to kill myself before I forgot what i was doing....?....what was I saying?

Medically, many do lose short term memory due to brain trauma, usually it comes back. If someone loses long term memory then that would be a huge problem, because you would have to learn everything all over again. If I had head trauma I wouldn't be aware of the fact whether I wanted to live or not. I would just end up a bumbling moron, but I wouldnt remember it so who cares?

After the accident your life would have no purpose, you would have to be in a hospital under 24 hour survalance and every moment someone wasnt in the room u would not know where u where.

I would rather be a pleasent memory in the afterlife than a constant reminder of what I had become

I can't remember. I forget every time I think about it. What was that question again?
