You shouldn't do that. It is technically illegal to cross over any solid line. You're also putting yourself and others in danger trying to swerve back onto a main road. If you accidentally start to go onto a highway, just get off at the next exit and get back on track.

This traffic lane law applies nationwide. Entering the interstate can only be accomplished by crossing over the broken white lines, not the solid white line. This is for a reason. So, that slower moving vehicles ahead, still have the right of way, when changing lanes only at the broken white lines. many faster vehicles attempt to speed up to pass the vehicle ahead and wind up sideswiping this vehicle in the same direction. Many accidents have occured because of this traffic lane violation.
