Why is pee sometimes yellow and sometimes clear?

    This is to do with a hormone that monitors the amount of water reabsorbed into your body. For instance, when it is hot and you need more water, more will be absorbed. Therefore there is a higher concentration of urea and the pee more yellow. That is why in summer it is usuually yellow, and in winter usually pretty clear

    Edit: Actually, it is a hormone called ADH (antidiuretic hormone). This hormone is released by the pituitary gland and controls the amount of water reabsorbed back into the body.

    Edit:Wow guys, you really didn't pay attention to science lessons here did you? yes, the amount you drink isa strong factor also, but I didn't include it seeing everyone else said it. But look it up, go ahead and see if the pituitary gland and a hormone called ADH doesn't control the amount of water reabsorbed back in the body. If it doesn't, and you can prove it to me, I'll buy you a drink, and I shall tell my science teacher she talks a load of crap

    It usually depends on what you eat/drink. If you drink a lot of water and dont eat much, your pee will be clear. But drink tons of coffee and eat a lot of protein and it will be more yellow. It has nothing to do with hormones like that other person's answer.

    It depends on your liquid intake. drink a lot of coffee or coca cola and yellow it is. drink a lot of water and its clear as a bell.
