Hey... I slipped on the ice! (and that was the ONLY time I've ever been flat on my back, middle of an alley, drunk, and saying to my friend, "Leave me here", as a cop's lights flashed near where I parked on the next street!) Seriously... Why? I have no clue... I guess some drink to forget. Which I don't understand. I never did forget (in fact I remember the above story like it was yesterday and it was over 30 years ago!) NEVER been that drunk, nor do I ever WANT to be, since.

I wouldn't know why people get drunk in the first place.

Meh, some people think it's fun. Me personally, I don't drink. =)
