What iam i doing wrong when you pull a dist and put it in line it up with number 1 wire and wont fire how do i get it started and running good

Put it back in with the rotor in the same spot as it was when you pulled it. Not #1. If you messed up and need to start over pull #1 spark plug and bring piston up to #1 compression stroke and then put the dist back in with rotor pointing to #1 plug wire.
