What are the possible side effects and risk factors associated with steroid use?

    What sort of steroids? I'm assuming you mean anabolic steroids.

    They have lots of side effects and associated risks. It's better to avoid taking them if possible.

    Anabolic steroids have the following possible side effects (wrote with the aid of Wikipedia):

    - elevated blood pressure
    - increased cholesterol which can lead to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease or coronary artery disease
    - Acne, Due to the stimulation of sebaceous gland
    - they can accelerate or cause premature baldness and prostate cancer.
    - increase size of the left ventricle in the heart, which can lead to death
    - breast development in males
    - reduced sexual function and temporary infertility

    In women:
    - Body hair increase
    - Deepening of the voice
    - Enlarged clitoris
    - Temporary decrease in menstrual cycles

    In adolescents:
    - Stunted growth
    - Accelerated bone maturation
    - Slight beard growth
