Yes, but you should see your doctor right away if they do to make sure they are the right ones for you. There are different types and some people need different kinds. Some people feel more depressed or suicidal on anti-depressants it is important you tell your doctor this right away.

Yes, as a matter of fact my wife gained 70 lbs. on Zoloft. She lost all the weight when she fired her therapist and went to a Herbalist and Homeopathic Doctor for treatment. She is on Saint John's Wort now.

I'm currently deal with this same problem. Each time I've increased the dosage I've felt worse than before, but in the past it got much better after about 9 days. Right now I've increased my dosage from 150 to 200, and I'm feeling very depressed. I'm going to hold out and see if it gets any better. I will report back.

Yes, it can make you want to kill yourself. At least that happened to me.

Talk to your doctor about this. It may take a few doses for the medication to start working, but it shouldn't really make you feel worse.

Some Antidepressants can cause increased suicidal feelings in some people.

If this is the case with you, seek medical attention immediately!

Yes. It is common for an anti=depressant to actually increase your anxiety and depression in the very beginning. It often increases your energy without helping your mood. This can be a tough combination, but after the two to six weeks, the full effect of the medication will kick in and many people are hugely benefited. From all the reading, conversations with others, and personal experience, it is clear to me that these medications take a certain amount of patience as they gradually enter and build-up in the bloodstream. This can be challenging and it is good to have a support system around you as you start any SSRI. They can watch you and care for you if your moods go up and down. Around the two week mark, most people begin to feel "like themselves" again, which is what an SSRI is meant to do. It isn't meant to take your troubles away. it is meant to help you regain your calmer, less anxious self. If there is no improvement or if symptoms continue to worsen after the 4-six week mark, then see your physician and talk about changing medications. Do NOT stop taking the medication cold turkey, as this will worsen everything. The doctor will help you know how to gradually wean down and try a different medication. I hope this helps and I wish you the best of success!
