  • Sr.: Senior Jr.: Junior II: the Second III: the Third P. E.: Professional Engineer
  • Sr. = Senior (the father) Jr. = Junior (the son) II = The second (named after his dad, and father of the next one) III = The Third (grandson of the first, son of the second) Don't know what P.E. means, except physical education, but I doubt that's what you wanted to know.
  • Sr: Used only by widows. Jr: The son of the original. II: named for the original but not the original's son and born before Jr. Almost always a nephew of the original. III: The son of either Jr or II. After that, the numbers go up in birth order regardless of the suffix of the father. Thus if II has a son before Jr has a son, II's son will be III. When Jr then has a son, he will be IV.
