Native Americans were tribalists, meaning there were as many specific creation myths and spiritual traditions as there were tribes. Generally though, the belief structures were based around environment - as with all tribal people. There was a belief in a Creator - sometimes called The Great Mystery - sometimes Father Sun. Usually there was also a Mother Earth. Father Sun impregnated mother earth with light - this is a pretty typical tribal idea, though still quite sublime. Native Americans in the plains had a teaching called The Medicine Wheel. It's a very elegant concept, and I highly encourage your to research it - There is a book called Seven Arrows by Hyemeyohsts Storm that is extremely powerful. Also, Black Elks Speaks is another fantastic read.
