Is there a statutory fee for getting divorced, and if so, how much is it? Who pays it?

    I think you may need to be a bit more geographically specific. In the middle east under Islam, you can shout "I divorce you", I think it's 3 times and that's it. Free.
    Here in Canada, you can go the no fault route and not contest it. Using a paralegal the cost is about 250 dollars and can be paid by whoever wnats to. I wanted a divorce, but my wife at the time didn't, which actually was good, as she would have taken me to the cleaners had I got my wish. 4 years later she changed her mind and offered to go no fault and actually pay for it. New Boyfriend?? I dunno, I didn't care. Yippee.
