I have subaru legacy 2000cc with compression ratio of 11.1:1.i use the only fuel available in my country with RON of 87,i hear some times knocking in the engine ,so is it better to add octane booster to solve the problem of low RON or not?

    Here is your problem RON 87 is inferior to what we in the US call 87-octane. In the US, octane is rates ((RON + MON)/2) and the lowest octane we can get is 87. You may actually be running something closer to 80-82!

    You should try adding the booster to see if the pinging goes away or merely reduces in intensity. If your pinging is light as the "sometimes" implies, you should be fine.
