First of all, you would need to get an idea of what kind of house you want to build (i.e. style, number of rooms, garage, a pool, etc.) and then meet with an architect to have the house designed and planned. Secondly, get a construction loan if you dont have the cash on hand to pay for all of the materials, supplies, and labor needed to build it. Third, hire a construction manager to properly coordinate when the different subcontractors do their part of the job. This is very important because to the untrained eye, it looks like someone is getting paid to just sit there and hire people to do various parts of the project and it does not take any form of skill or talent. But a good construction manager is the key to managing costs, quality and time schedules.
