    I AM a better parent than either of them. My mother gave me crystal clear examples of what destroys souls. My father showed me what disengaged/non commited looks like. The only thing I was missing was what loving a child looked like. Armed with a steely determination that my children would never know what it felt like to have either parenting style, my girls have the best of everything I can muster.

    I couldn't imagine being a better parent then my mother, but I don't plan on being one myself (parent)

    I don't really think it's possible to compare fairly. They were a couple who raised 4 children, I am a single father who raised one daughter. My father worked 2 full-time jobs until I was about ten years old. My mother was a housewife until I was 15 years old.
    My mother was a better cook and housewife than I could ever be. My father was better with finances and any house repairs than I am.
    They were better.
    Having 2 parents beats only 1 parent.

    I try to love my children unconditionally, which is not something I received, in my opinion.
