You made your mistake, by not including your partners name on the title and all the finance papers. now that this person is not on the scene, you are left with the payments. if their had been an agreement, or contract, from the beginning, between you and your partner concerning the automobile, you would have legal recourse for his/her payment. I would make the payments and keep the car, no matter what. sending the vehicle back to the finance company will ruin your credit rating. Do like so many of us have to do, work a second or third job, just make the car payment. The finance company does not care where or how the money is made for the payment. all they want is money...period.

The only right you have is to continue payments until you have fully paid for the car and receive clear title to it. Having paid only a third of the debt, you could possibly owe more on the car than it is worth. But, you could check into trading it in on a smaller, less expensive car. Otherwise, get a second job to pay for the car.
