  • I was told that they (as well as other carriers) are charging extra $18 fee because they are trying to recoup cost that came from the copper wire being stolen from so many cell towers. I'm not sure this is true, but I've been told by a couple of people that's the reason.
  • It is an origination fee. To open your account, it costs on average $25 for a cell phone company to open an account. That includes setting up the billing, the account on the billing system, and other costs of doing business. All companies charge them and Sprint sounds cheap.
  • UNLESS ITS SOMETHING NEW, THEY DONT CHARGE A ACTIVATION FEE. CALL 1-888-211-4727 FOR SPRINT AND ASK THEM DIRECT WHY THEIR CHARGING A ACTIVATING FEE AND IF THEIR IS'NT ONE. TELL THEM THE ADDRESS AND NAME THAT CHARGED YOU A ACTIVATION FEE, KEEP THE RECEIPT. YOU MIGHT GET A REFUND. HAVE A NICE DAY. MIKE
