My boss just did this for a friend of his. You should pick the favorite songs of the person whose birthday it is. They will thoroughly enjoy watching the show while listening to their favorite tunes.

I was impressed with my brother. He did something similar for our Mum's 60th. He organised the pictures into decades and our Father picked our Mum's favourite song of that decade. He then used some free music editor to cut the songs down and mix them into each other. I couldn't believe how easy it was, and my Mum really loved watching the CD. She still drags it out to show guests.

Do a little reseach, find out what songs the guest likes. If he/she is married, include the Beatles song "When I'm 64".

Use only the music of that persons era. if it was big band music, use it. after all, this is their 50th birthday. Never, never use rap.
