Question

Help answer this question below.

Widescreen monitor resolution: I need my 16x10 monitor to act like it's 4x3 so 800x600 won't be stretched, is there a way to do this with black lines down the side in the extra space or something? I have nvidia 7800 video card, if that adds any options...

I figured this out so I thought I'd share the answer in case anyone else needs it.

With an Nvidia card you can right click on the desktop to access the Nvidia control panel. On the left of this window will be an option called "change flat panel scaling" and from there you can select the option to "use nvidia scaling with fixed aspect ratio". This will cause any aspect ratio to not be fit to your screen, instead the image will be centered with black lines down the sides in the empty space. It will automatically change if you start and application that is a different aspect than your desktop. :)

On regular monitors you can do the autofit option, but I don't think you can do it on lappys.
