  • Its your room, not mine, but just for the record I think that could look good, nice to have some different shades :-)
  • Unless you are shooting for a really formal look...I say YES! You can help make the lighter wood "look at home" by adding some lighter color and weight fabrics...and also lighter colored accent pieces... Baskets, fresh flowers, plants, Glass objects, Hand-made Paper pieces (framed on the walls), dried grasses, reeds, pale colored stones that are interesting...in a light colored bowl or basket...sea shells...if they will fit your decor design...light colored candles...(such as natural bees wax) grouped together...a lighter colored throw for the couch and a lighter toned area rug will all help transition the dark to the light....(and don't forget wall color!)
  • I have different colored wood in my living room. The media center is yellow pine, the table and chairs are dark cherry, and I have different colored wooden accents: dark mahogany display and storage case for my fans, oak for the display and storage case for my husband's watch collection, and much more. I also mixed woods in my bathroom. The mirror is an antique, in dark oak, the toilet seat is a dark ash, and the fixtures (towel hooks, paper holder and lamps) are flea market finds, in different tones. The bathtub is surrounded by a light pine beadboard. Personally, I love to mix and match woods. So if you like it, do it! It's your home, and has to reflect your personality!
  • all good suggestions. Thanks! It confirms that I will keep the dark wood media stand for my tv
