You kind of have to choose from whose available at the school. If there is someone on your team you are not getting along with, perhaps you should ask check around in your town for an advocate. Each town will have something different set up, since advocates usually work for non-profit organizations. We had one for our son and he showed up at one meeting. We never felt the need to call him again. He made two suggestions for alternate schooling for our son, and things went smoothly from there on in, so we didn't need him anymore. Having one there to help you out if you are having difficulty with certain team members can smooth things a little. I'm not sure who you should ask to find one. We found out about ours quite by chance through a friend of a friend. Start asking someone, anyone, if they know someone who knows someone. I don't think there is much you can do to choose who is on your team at the school, but you can bring anyone on board that you want to. That much, I do know. Counselors, Doctors, family members, I mean anyone willing to spend the time.
