i have the same problem and i think its the seal on the back panel that lifts up when the top is put up or down.to bad i cant put my top down [it just quit today]but i seen the water dripping on the top left looking into the trunk, and it was coming from the area of the seal.hope i was a help. HANK

Likely the rubber lining around the inside trunk area has a problem.

1996 Volvo 850. Forgot lights on, killed the battery. Tried to jump start, the engine would turn but wouldn't start. Same with new battery
