a dummy hit a power line ripped the wire from transformer, and now my sons e-machine wont come on, is it totally dead and if so if the idiot pays for the comp and takes this one could there be ny chance he could recover any private info like pics and such?

I had an eMachine, and it had a major spaz once when i clicked on a link on Google. Next thing I know, it doesnt turn on! With mine, it would start up into the BIOS, but then it wouldnt do anything else. Is this happening with yours, or will just not come on at all? Maybe you should check your power unit. Or go to a computer retailer.

Your power unit might have gone, that's what happened to my old e-machines computer. But as already said, there isn't enough information to give an accurate answer.

would need more info on this, are there any lights on the machine / monitor if so what colours. Is the machine making a sound like it is trying to boot - normal start up noise post beep etc.
