You're reading Why, in NC at least, do window tinting laws only apply to aftermarket tint? I can't have 25% tint on my VW Passat, because it didn't come with it from the factory with it, but a Porsche can have 5-10% tint because it came stock from the factory?

What's a drive out tag and why would it need to be read through a window?

they are paper temporary tags, issued by the state for new and used autos. used till paperwork is cleared. to be displayed on lower left rear window. cannot be seen with tinted windows.

oh...ok. In NC, we just put them in the same place the regular plate goes. They usually last about 30 days, even with rain. Usually, it only takes a week or two to get the paperwork filed.

ok, same difference. each state has their own name or definition for a temp. tag.
