  • ford uses facing engine left bank....1234 right bank....5678 distributor rotates...ccw timing 351...13726548. is this a windsor? or is it a 351 mod. used on later fords? look on the serial number to find place of manufacturer plant...351 cleveland casting made cleveland ohio, windsor plant town of winsor i believe made in canada..mod (modified) is a version of windsor engineered for more torgue in truck engines. try this loosen the hold down clamp on the disributor shaft.turn ccw mark the shaft so as to a reference, turn i/4 inch try start..nothing..try cw 1/4 try start. if it back fires you are turning the wrong direction, you see no improvement you are probaly out of time 180 degree pull shaft reinstall the gear will rotate if not in allignment and will not "CLICK IN PLACE THIS IS COMMON WHEN DISTRIBUTOR SHAFTS ARE REMOVED ON FORDS RINSTALLMENT WILL BE A 180 DEGREE OFF probaly the cam shaft lobes are worn,thus push rod change of new still has not corrected the problem the reason you changed the push rods the first place. cam shaft driven through the timing process which will indicate by the 1/4 inch rotation where as it will start. good luck been there.
