  • I also read they are fraternal not identical, however coming from the same place at the same time, means they are twins, identical or not. They just happen to look alike, some do some dont..
  • although the olsens report that they are fraternal twins, it is usually impossible for even the mother to know for sure without a blood test. the fact that one is left-handed and the other is right-handed actually further supports the idea that they are identical, not fraternal. many twins are what is called "mirror image twins" in which the egg splits later in development, resulting in the two individuals being opposite. furthermore, the similarity in appearance is much too obvious to have been the result of simple chance...most siblings are easily distinguished from each other. the fact that they each have distinguishing moles or other characteristics does not lead any credence to the assertion that they are fraternal either, as some proven identicals have shown to have these same differences, as well as large differences in height. maybe these girls and their families just want to portray these girls as individuals...but chances are, they are identical.
  • Hey, I knew two sisters who looked identical, and they were years apart! It can happen.
  • Your suspicions are warranted. Identical twins are hard to tell apart, but are NOT perfectly identical. Their fingerprints, for example, are always different, and they can vary in height, weight, handedness, skin marks like moles, and personality traits. Fraternal twins are only as alike as sisters. Now some sisters can look very much alike, but anyone ever seen any that look as similar as the Olsens? What are the odds of them randomly getting very, very similar sets of genes from different eggs and sperm? Very, very small. Aren't the odds a whole lot better they're not genetic experts, and their claim of fraternity is based on ignorance or ego? So until they get a DNA test, you have every right to be skeptical.
  • My sister and I are 11 months and two weeks apart, but we look as much alike as those two do. We used to dress alike just to fool people, and we also sound exactly alike.
  • It's weird how things work out..My dad and his brother were born 10 yrs to the day apart, and looked exactly like each other :)
  • they might have been from different sperm but because they were form the same dna so they are similar. it could have been a boy and a girl and they could have had same facial expressions too. all family look alike to its just that some change their image they wanted to make theirs the same so they look like twins
