Cooked Beets - I threw up one time when they tried to get me to eat them. I hate them and haven't touched them since. I also hate celery - I wish I liked it because it's so low in calories, but I tried it again recently and STILL hate it!

Beets - I hate the smell of them and the purple juice they leave behind. I still can't stand them.

I think there was only one item they COULD get me to eat -- cheese sandwiches. I remember many an evening spent sitting alone at the dinner table until I finished my plate while the rest of the family was watching t.v. and enjoying themselves. When it came time to take a bath and get ready for bed, I'd be excused from the table although my plate was still full.
-
Squash and yes. I love it now especially the way my mom cooks it. I feel a little resentful for all the years I never ate it thinking I would hate it.

Well i don't know if this counts but I would not drink egg nog for ever. My step mom was making breakfast and she said trish have you ever had eggnog before and i said no, well she had a blender full of something and she had me take a taste and needless to say it was blended eggs, not cooked. So yeah would not drink that for anything. I would love to drink it , but don't drink it because of calories.

My parents suggested that we eat what was on our plates as it was tied into the dessert option. I knew I couldn't end world hunger by saving my Lima beans and tomatoes for those starving unfortunates in third world countries so I tried to train the dog to eat them. As an adult, I don't eat anything I had to eat often as a kid.

When I was a little guy we were in the throws of WWII. We ate what was on our plates like it or not we soon learned to like everything put on our plates and cleaned them up. If we didn't eat something we were told, "Think of the children in Europe whom had nothing to eat!" That may not seem so important now but then it very much so. We lived in a different world back then we will never see the likes of again, even when WWIII occures.
-
broccoli, artichokes, avocados and now I love them all!

Hated asparagus then, love it now. Same for turnip. Made peace with spinach by learning how to freeze baby spinach leaf and powder it. Made peace with Brussels sprout by baking it in ham. Still abhor zucchini, cauliflower, & eggplant,
