It feels like a tooth is poking into the inside of my cheek, tearing it. Does this mean I'm growing wisdom teeth? How can I temporarily relieve the pain?

It depends where exactly the pain is. If the cheek right at the back of your mouth is hurting, close to where your wisdom teeth are supposed to grow is hurting, then yes, it could be them.

However, the pain could also be due to a chipped tooth perhaps, maybe a tiny jagged bit that you can't see is poking your cheek.
You should definitely get it checked out at the dentist, because even if it is just a wisdom tooth, your dentist will probably want to make sure they're growing ok.
Wisdom teeth are renowned for hurting when they grow, but they're definitely not supposed to feel as though they're tearing the inside of your cheek.

To temporarily relieve the pain, you could take 1g of paracetamol, or/and 400mg ibuprofen. They're the recommended doses for adults, but you should check the box to see if there are any reasons you shouldn't take them, and you should make sure you know you're not allergic to them.

You could also buy some Clove oil (pharmacies sell it), and put a few drops on some cotton wool and hold the cotton wool ball over the sore area. Clove oil tastes absolutely foul though, to the point where you'd probably prefer the pain.

You could also use some mouth numbing gel, or teething gel. This is available from pharmacies and supermarkets. In the UK a well known brand is Bonjela.

Most likely these are wisdom teeth and you could probably use something like orajel to relieve the pain or you may want to see a dentist to make sure you won't have to have them pulled out. Your dentist may give you something to put on, but most people have pain when their wisdom teeth are growing in I know I do.

I had exactly the same thing and it turned out to be my wisdom tooth was very crooked and pushing against my cheek. I had it removed. Since the tooth was already exposed, it was quite easy and was done with a local anesthetic.

In the mean time, try oraljel to relieve the pain.
