i think suicide is an easy way out for the victim. it is torturous for ppl around the victim coz they will always wonder if they could have done things differently for the victim so that he wouldn't have ended up this way. that said, victims don't really commit suicide for selfish reasons, they do it becoz they juz don't see a way out of their problems.

Yes, of course it is. But when people are so depressed that they wish to kill themselves, they are incapable of looking outwards to that extent.

When a terminally ill person commits suicide, I think, it's not a selfish act.

11 years ago my Cousin who I was very close with, Took his own Life !! At first I was Shocked then I became Pissed at him for leaving all of us behind in the Manner he did.. His mom and dad were soooo Hurt and all who knew him were Devastated !!.. it took me a few years to come to terms with his Suicide.. I now Understand that one cannot make sense out of a senseless Act !! I believe if he would of had a few seconds of Clarity he wouldnt have done it !! In the same Sense I nor anyone can Imagine the Turmoul he must have been in mentally.. At First I felt he was Selfish !! Now I feel he was desparately Depressed , feeling as if he were living in a deep dark Hole in which he felt no other way to stop his pain, whatever that was for him !!

If one person commit suicide because they don't want to be a burden to others, it could be an altruistic act. However, consider that sometimes the others would prefer to have that burden than you commiting suicide.

Not at all, Suicide is not a selfish act. Some people would rather die than go through pain for a very long time. Often, its the suicide victim's family or friends that caused the pain. They deserve their own pain. I don't believe that its selfish or an easy way out of a situation. An easy way out of a situation would be to go to a psychologist or a counselor. Suicide is not an easy feat or just an impulse decision.
