  • The birth certificate holds the most clout and actually the SS card may be invalid if it doesn't have the same last name at the BC - Just because the sperm donor is a locked up dead beat doesn't give the right start changing names. In order to get the last name changed I think you need the father to sign off - and someone else to adopt. I could be wrong but I think this is how it goes. I'm curious as to how you managed to have the SS card printed with the mothers last name when the BC has the fathers?
  • The birth certificate hold more weight. You would have to go the courts to change his name, perhaps because the babys father's name is on the birth certificate you may need his permission.
