What is the purpose of the little piece of tissue paper that comes with a wedding invitation?

    Drastic

    To keep the ink from blotching, but that doesn't happen anymore. So now you could just bring to with you to the wedding and blow your nose with it:)

    It was to keep the ink from blotching on the envelop or the RSVP card. It's a way to present it with more formality now.

    I think in the olden days it was used to keep the ink on the invitation from spreading. Now it's just used as tradition.
