Sounds like you have two sound programs competing for control of the volume level on your computer (like WinAmp and WMP at the same time). Check to see if other programs are running in the background. If not, see if the same piece of music plays the same way on another computer. If so, the problem is with the music. If not, then check to see if a standard piece of audio (like the Windows startup music) on your computer plays back normally. If it does, then there is something wrong with the configuration of your media player.

You're reading My xp computer volume changes by itself. When watching video or listening to music, the volume will suddenly lower for a few seconds, then go back. This repeats every so often. I havent changed or altered any settings.
