I think china has to be for the long term future its population will be so vast soon the sheer number of people it has will make them the main race on earth

Interesting that you say "still". I never did think the US was #1 in the world. On what dimension? Certainly not standard of living...or human rights....or socio-economic equality of its populace...What did you have in mind? It is a good question and deserves some quality debate.....

Without question. America (USA) is the best place to live in the entire world. Yes we have a lot of problems, but we admit it and try to fix it. Examples: Global warming, same sex marriage, capitalism, freedom of speach, diverse religious attitudes, and the list goes on. And yet, everyone wants to come here. That says it all.

In terms of what? Civil rights? No. Economics? No. Equality? No. Leadership/example setting? No. Freedom? No. Everything America is supposed to stand for? No. But, in terms of media outlets and influence on the rest of the world, and ability to construct an image of themselves to the rest of the world that seems desirable, and their ability to circumvent the truth and distract from important matters; all of these are at a record high.

Like said before, there are varying categories that you can be the best in, though I don't know if america has any of those titles left, unless being the arab cash cow counts!

It's a superpower, and I guess it is for now but won't stay #1 at all.

No , The rest of the world especially india and China are overtaking us. We cannot compete on the world market . Thanks to Wal*Mart who buys out of country we are loosing out. We have had bad leadership who got wealthy selling the US down the River.It will continue no matter who is elected because they belong to the same old boys clubs and the Presidents in the past.
