If the fire and EMS services are combines, it is easier to get on if you are a paramedic already. They are in such demand, you pretty much get hired on the spot. Work out, alot. The physical will kick your ass, especially if the dept uses CPAT. Apply at the gov't office in your county. They will send you to get your NPQ. Alot of departments want to train you, so having it already doesn't always help. They think you'll have bad habits from other depts, and if they train you they train you the way they want you to do things.
