    For water, heat and to eat insects and woodlice, that have come inside for the same reason.

    Like a snake, looking for something to eat. They are strictly carnivorous, i.e. roaches, spiders, silverfish. Like a snake, if they can't find anything to eat, they'll move on, looking elsewhere.
